THE FIRST PASSPORT

For many years I believed I was building a career. Every morning had objectives, every year a balance sheet. Then time arrived and put everything in its place. Today, looking back, I do not remember the numbers as much as the people, not the statistics as much as the conversations. We spend a lifetime believing value is found in structures, then discover it was hidden in the human beings who passed through them.

I learned to respect something different from talent: constancy. Talent can open a door; constancy allows you to cross the corridor. An organization is never really made of buildings or logos. It is made of behaviors repeated over time — and its invisible culture emerges only when no one is watching, when a crisis knocks at the door.

As I began to travel through different nations, I first looked for the differences. Then I began to notice the similarities: a father worried about his children’s future, a mother ready to sacrifice herself, a worker who asks for respect. The coordinates changed. The human being remained surprisingly similar.

The company was important. It formed me, it put me to the test. But it was not the finish line. It was the starting point. Work built skills. The world built awareness. And the true story, the one slowly taking shape inside me, had yet to begin.
